The Veluto Nero cafe is Sydney CBD’s only coffee roasting facility set within a cafe environment. The project challenges included taking an irregular shaped space with mezzanine, limited services and narrow street frontage into an inviting welcoming cafe with a variety of services – cafe, coffee and retail. New services, finishes and energy efficient equipment and finishes were installed throughout.

The synergy of the client/architect designer relationship enabled the realisation of the client’s ambition for their start up company and for the launch of their unique brand to the market. The fit out provides a platform from which they can manufacture and promote their premium product as well as being a reflection of the product itself.

The project was driven by the enthusiasm of a dynamic start up company introducing their own new brand into the coffee and tea market. The fit out is a celebration of all things related to coffee, presenting the story of coffee roasting, blending and drinking. The owners – three sisters – all work together with an enthusiastic, passionate and expert team to offer a one-stop solution.
