This project for a new cultural arts centre reflects the progressive and innovative cultural works being produced in the Campbelltown community.

The core focus of Campbelltown Arts Centre is to develop and deliver innovative high quality contemporary arts programs that maximise opportunities and avenues for communities to engage with contemporary, multi-arts practice. The Centre’s program encompasses all forms of the visual, performing, literary and new media arts.

The entry foyer serves as a central point of access to the facilities of the centre, which include gallery exhibition spaces, a 180 seat performance theatre, residency apartment, art workshops, gallery shop and a cafe. The privately operated cafe caters for functions at the gallery, and incorporates an outdoor terrace with views to the Japanese and Sculptural Gardens.

The performance space is a purpose built flexible performance space with retractable 174 seating bank with the capacity to hold 350 people standing. When in theatre style set up, the room offers 100% visibility while maintaining its intimate setting. After a dramatic transformation, this space can turn into an amazing wedding and functions venue. ESD Principles include external sun protection to glazed areas, natural day lighting, energy efficient equipment and stormwater storage reuse.
