A proposed town centre and surrounding suburbs are identified in the Edmondson Park Masterplan which identified a need for an expanded public school. This project arose in response to this expansion to accommodate the
growing population. The new facility will create a Core 35 Primary School, catering for 1000 K2-K6 students in 44 home bases, including 4 special education units, communal hall, community learning centre, synthetic sports pitch, and external play and learning areas.

TKD worked with specialist educational consultant New Learning Environments to develop a design which embraces innovative educational learning spaces, encouraging open learning, maximising external connections, and creating diverse learning environments. Relocation of the existing school’s facilities adjacent to arterial roads provided the opportunity to create a community focal point, while the new central courtyard acts as a heart to the school and key facilities such as the hall, learning centre and sports pitch are located to encourage community engagement out of school hours.
