Strathfield, NSW

Australian Catholic University

Clancy Cottage was a 1930’s style
dwelling on the Strathfield campus
which had been used for many years
as office spaces. ACU decided that
its location and scale ideally suited
convertion into a psychology clinic for
the university.

The clinic functions as a teaching facility
for the School of Psychology to support
professional training programs. While
primarily a teaching facility, the clinic is
accessed by the public including families
and children.

Taking cues from residential design
the interior fitout is calm and nurturing.
Carefully considered finishes, colours,
fabrics and textures have been used to
deliver welcoming and familiar spaces
that can be considered a “home away
from home”.

New technologies were sensitively
integrated into the fitout with video and
sound recording facilities in consulting
rooms. Natural light and colour play an
important part in the fitout to provide
a commercially practical solution that
responds to a sensitive design brief.
